General questions

What is Ringlate?

Ringlate is a messaging app for people and the groups they belong to. You can send messages and media, make voice and video calls, run groups and channels, and keep everything in sync across your devices.

Which devices can I use?

iPhone, iPad and Android phones and tablets. Sign in on each device with the same account; your chats appear on all of them.

How much does it cost?

Ringlate is free. There are no ads and no paid tiers.

Do you show ads or sell my data?

No. We show no advertising and we do not sell personal data. The privacy policy lists exactly what the software processes and why.

How do I create an account?

Install the app, choose a username and a password (or sign in with a one-time code), and you are in. You can add a profile photo, a bio and a birthday whenever you like.

Using Ringlate

Who can message me?

Anyone who knows your username can start a chat, unless you have blocked them. You can also decide who may call you and who may add you to groups.

What do the check marks mean?

One check: the message reached our servers. Two checks: it was read by the recipient.

Can I edit or delete a message?

Yes. Edit a message from its menu, delete it for yourself, or delete it for everyone in the chat.

What is the difference between a group and a channel?

In a group everyone can write. A channel is a broadcast: only its admins post, and subscribers read, react and comment where you allow it.

How do I share my location?

Tap the attachment button in any chat and choose Location. You can send your current position or share a live location for 15 minutes, an hour or eight hours; stop it whenever you want.

Can I use Ringlate on a second device?

Yes. Sign in on the new device with the same account. Each device appears in Settings → Devices, where you can end any session.

Privacy and security

Are my messages end-to-end encrypted?

No. Messages are encrypted in transit (TLS) and stored on our servers so that they are available on every device you sign in to. They are not end-to-end encrypted. The privacy policy explains what this means for you.

How does two-step verification work?

In Settings → Privacy and Security you can set an additional password. Whenever your account is signed in on a new device, that password is required as well.

Can I lock the app?

Yes. Settings → Privacy and Security → App lock lets you require a passcode or biometrics before the app opens.

Who can see my phone number?

Nobody has to. Ringlate accounts are built around a username, so you can be reachable without ever sharing a number.

How do I block or report someone?

Open the person's profile and choose Block. To report a message, a chat or a channel, open its menu and choose Report; we review every report.

Your account

How do I sign out of another device?

Settings → Devices lists every active session. Tap a device and choose Sign out, or sign out all other devices at once.

I lost my phone. What should I do?

Sign in from another device, open Settings → Devices and end the session of the lost phone. If you had two-step verification on, nobody can sign in without that password.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Privacy and Security → Delete account. This removes your profile and your content from our servers. See the account deletion page for details.

I lost access to my e-mail.

Write to us from any other address with details that let us verify you are the account owner, and we will help you regain access.

Troubleshooting

I am not receiving notifications.

Check that notifications are allowed for Ringlate in your device settings and that the chat is not muted. On Android, make sure battery optimisation is not restricting the app.

A call does not connect.

Both sides need a working internet connection. If one of you is on a restricted network, try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data.

Media does not download.

Open Settings → Data and Storage and check the automatic download rules, or tap the media to download it manually.
